Speaking during a broadcast of “Hannity” on Monday, November 11, Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s newly appointed “border czar,” sounded off on claims from “The View” that the incoming Trump Administration will start deporting American citizens under its mass deportation plan.
Particularly, Homan noted that the next Trump Administration will be securing the southern border, but that the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View,” which made the claim about American citizens being deported earlier in the day on that Monday, have no idea what they’re talking about.
“The View” co-host Ana Navarro said, as background, “You realize, I mean, it’s chilling what he just said. You realize when he says, ‘Yes, families can be deported together,’
what he is saying is, that U.S. Citizens can be deported. What he is saying is, if the parent is undocumented and they have U.S. Citizen children or U.S. Citizen spouses, and you don’t want to separate them, then let’s deport the U.S. Citizens.”
Tom Homan pushed back forcefully against the claims, calling them “misinformed” and “irresponsible.” Speaking with host Sean Hannity, Homan clarified that the Trump Administration’s immigration policies strictly target undocumented individuals and not U.S. citizens. "No U.S. citizen can or will be deported under any administration's immigration enforcement policies. It's just a blatant lie,” Homan said. “The focus is, and always has been, on individuals who are in the country illegally."
Homan further criticized “The View” for spreading what he described as fearmongering and misinformation, arguing that such rhetoric only serves to mislead the public about the administration’s objectives. “What they’re doing is stoking unnecessary panic,” he said. “The goal of immigration enforcement is to uphold the law and protect the sovereignty of this nation, not to harm law-abiding American citizens.”
Hannity echoed Homan’s sentiments, accusing critics of creating “false narratives” to undermine Trump’s policies. Homan also reiterated the administration’s plans to increase border security measures, expand resources for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and work to close legal loopholes that he claims encourage illegal immigration.
The exchange highlighted the ongoing polarization surrounding immigration reform and enforcement policies, with critics warning of potential overreach and supporters insisting on the need for strong border control. Homan concluded, "We’re not deporting U.S. citizens. That’s just absurd. What we’re doing is enforcing laws that Congress enacted to keep this country secure.”
